Wonderful Dinner

We just had a very nice dinner this evening with 9 OBU students (one was technically an alum though). It was great to get to know Ben, Jason, Elliott, Brittany, Kira, Nicole, Jessie, Katie and Rebecca over dinner. We were supposed to get to go to Queen of Sheba for Ethiopian cuisine, but things did not work out. Apparently they are closed on Sundays and Mondays. Instead we ended up at Chili's. But nonetheless, it was a really good time. The kids behaved (mostly) and we got to share some of our adoption experience with the group. Some of these students will be joining me this summer on the mission trip to Ethiopia. It was good to get to know them better.

No Offense Intended

While Jeff and I may not be completely on the same page about adopting again. I feel like we are on a different planet than most people in regard to our feelings about adoption. It almost makes me sick the way people get so worked up about having their "own kids" and how important pregnancy is to having kids. I must say, I have done it both ways and our adoption process was nothing short of miraculous. That God can take a child and make him such an integral part of my heart ... now that to me is so much more amazing that the biology of having a child. Reading posts on FB, and such makes me want to hide people sometimes.

Then there is my sister-in-law, bless her heart, I know she has a heart for rescuing animals. But I see the passion in how she writes and how people respond and it makes me want to throw up. That you can be so passionate to rescue animals and not see rescuing children as, oh, I don't know maybe a million times more important. And the sad thing is that it isn't deliberate. It is a clear ignorance. Not even thinking about it. Makes my stomach turn each time I read about the plight of some animal. I mean, it's an animal! What about the children! What about the millions upon millions of children! People don't even think about them.

Do you? Will you help? These are children. Children that need homes. I know I have a home and I know I want more. I want to rescue them all, but of course I can't. But we changed the life of one. And in turn he has changed our lives forever. I crave the experience again. In the meantime I will try to be content in getting our financial lives stabilized so that maybe, just maybe someday we can do it all over again.

It is the cry of my heart...
