Well, remember that deed in lieu I posted about sometime ago? We have received word that it has been approved. However, while we await the paperwork, which should arrive next week sometime, we are also aware it may not be what we need to do. You see in the paperwork, the bank will either waive their right to collect the deficit (which they project to be $30K) or they won't. If they don't waive the right to collect the deficit, we won't sign the paperwork, which puts us back where we were before.
I am so stressed out about this! Add to that an *unspoken* stress that I cannot disclose at the moment, and you've got yourself a regular basket-case here.
We also have 2 weeks + Finals week, or more specifically 9 regular class days + 3 days of finals and my school is out. Then I have basically 1 week off, but will have already stopped daycare for the kids for the summer at that point, so I will have them that week. Then May 20th, I leave for Ethiopia. Adoption? I wish! But no. I am the sponsor for a trip from my school. We have 5 students + me going to do mission work in Ethiopia. We had hoped Jeff would be able to go, but alas, finances are just not allowing that to happen.
Oh, and the most recent aggravation (aside from the house stuff) is our taxes. We filed our taxes which included the adoption tax credit (which we have gotten for the last 2 years) only to have that portion put on hold while we provided verification of the adoption and expenses. Seriously. Mind you the IRS has given us part of the tax credit for the adoption for two years now already. Also, they know we adopted, we had to do lots of paperwork through the US government to get his adoption finalized. Furthermore any overseas adoption will exceed the tax credit (which was $11,500 when we adopted Eli) so needing to provide receipts to *prove* we have in fact paid out more than $11,500 is laughable. Ok, granted I was not actually laughing while I copied my 41 pages of paperwork for the IRS. I was also not laughing when I had to pay $4.87 to mail the paperwork off to them.
So, please keep 3 things in your prayers for us...
1) the house paperwork to waive rights to pursue the deficit
2) my *unspoken*
3) our tax refund to actually be processed (and us to receive it)
