Color Blind

Tonight at bedtime we read a book called "Why" to Abi. It is rather old (copyright 1985) and is basically a science book. It explained things like gravity and the changing shape of the moon, etc.

One page was about different skin colors. After beginning to read the page, Jeff paused and asked Abi if she knew anyone with skin color different from hers. She thought a moment and responded "Cheyanne" - a biratial friend of her's from church. Jeff and I chuckeled as Jeff said "anyone else?" No response from our Abi. Of course Jeff then pointed out "Eli maybe?" and Abi responded "Oh yea."

A beautiful display on behalf of our daughter of eyes that do not see her brother as "different" than she is ... but as merely "her brother."
