Tomorrow Eli will have surgery (circumcision). This involves anesthesia, etc. as well as no food after he goes to bed tonight. Please pray for his safety and for God's healing... that Eli's pain will be manageable and very temporary.
On a lighter note, things are moving along well here. I am out of school (though I am teaching a night course for the next 3 weeks). Abi's last day of preschool is tomorrow. Next year she'll be in kindergarten.
Eli just had another physical therapy appointment last week (he is nearly walking but not yet, he'll take about 6 steps then sit down). They were very pleased with his verbal skills and his fine motor skills as well as his perpetually good attitude (a lady at McDonald's called him a flirt the other day... and he so is).
Next week we have our 2nd post-placement visit with our social worker. The Ethiopian government requires that we sent updates at 3 mo, 6 mo, 9 mo then every year after his adoption to them. While not doing so would not *hurt* us, it jeopardize Ethiopian adoption for other families in the future.
On July 27 we have our court date for readoption. Because our Ethiopian adoption was finalized before we ever *met* Eli, the U.S. requires families to go through readoption in the U.S. I am not really sure the point of it... but maybe I will have more insight after we do it in July.
We are also planning a trip home (to OK) from June 22 - July 11. We can't wait to see family again!
